Circa 1900-1910 Dress -
Embroidery
The bodice and skirt may be homemade, but if so, the workmanship and
detail are very good. The dress is done in what looks like a
lightweight wool in a very pretty peachy tan color. This dress is
trimmed around the neckline and sleeves with pale yellow embroidery
thread! The bodice has a side front hook/eye closure and no boning
or underlining. The bodice has a square lace yoke with hand
embroidered flowers in green, blue, light pink and ecru. The stand-up
collar is also done in lace with two stays in the back of the
neckline. The top of the collar is edged with a narrow row of
braided embroidery thread. Over 1" wide scrolling, braided
embroidery thread also decorates the bodice and runs below the lace
yoke. The braided embroidery continues all around the back of the
neckline. The bodice has long, straight sleeves which come to a
point on the top of the hand. The sleeve edges are also decorated
with the braided emboidery thread. The matching skirt is plain. It
has a set in waistband with two narrow vertical sewn pleats down the
front. The skirt has a back hook/eye closure which is hidden by a
large open vertical pleat which runs the length of the skirt and
there is a hem protector on the skirt. The bodice is in good
condition, but does have some moth holes and underarm damage. The
lace and braiding is in very good condition. The skirt also has some
moth holes, but material is very sturdy. Waistline measures
approximately 26". The trim on this dress is wonderful!

Blue/Black Floral
Dress
This dress is a nice "all around" dress. It is perfectly at home
for shopping or dinner. The dress is navy blue with a lighter blue
floral design. The dress has a mandrin collar and center front
button closure. The collar and front closure is trimmed with a light
blue edging. The dress has short, raglan sleeves and two (2) side
pockets. The bodice is fitted and the dress originally had a belt.
Unfortunately, the belt is no longer with the dress, but a black belt
would work nicley. The skirt has a few small pleats to give it a bit
of fullness. There are some scattered small moth holes, but they are
not noticeable when the dress is worn over a dark blue slip. A label
which reads, "Fashioned by Smartcraft" is attached to the dress.
There is no size information, but the dress measures: bustline=33";
neckline to waistline length=15 1/2"; waistline=24" and the waistline
to hemline length is 28".

1940's Green Beaded
Blouse
This 1940's blouse is a great example of the era. The blouse is a
medium green color and is decorated with gold, blue and red sequins
and beads. The design is an array of beaded circles which begin on
one shoulder and continue across the bustline. The blouse is fitted
through the waistline with darts and the sleeves are short.
Unfortunately, someone has taken the blouse in through the arms and
in the waistline. There is also some discoloration under the arms.
The blouse is still wearable or would be a perfect garment to make a
pattern from. The label in the blouse reads, "Dorothy Korby
Sport/Wear, A Rayon Fabric." The blouse now measures approximately:
bustline=33" and waistline=23". Again, this blouse has been modified.

1940's
Gown/Jacket
This mauve colored floor length gown/jacket ensemble is gorgeous;
however it does have some problems. This would be the perfect dress
for the vintage restorer! The dress has two narrow spagetti straps
and the bodice is gathered with a 1" wide ruffle along the entire top
edge of the dress. A 3" inverted "V" begins directly under the
bustline. The floor length skirt falls to a beautiful swirl; however
it is not bias cut. The gown has a back metal zipper. A matching
short sleeve jacket is a great compliment to the dress. The jacket
is very fitted and has short, puffed sleeves. It has a front metal
zipper (part of the zipper needs to be resewn). Eleven 1" diameter
spirals accent each side of the jacket. These spirals begin a
gathered section of the jacket which ends at the side seam. There is
also a neck closure which consists of two of these spirals (missing
hook/eye). The back of the jacket is fitted with a self tie belt.
The jacket has small shoulder pads. Now for the problem. The dress
has been stored away and has light stains and fading throughout it.
I would suggest dying the dress and jacket a slightly darker color
than it's current color. The material is sturdy and this dress is
very wearable and a wonderful example of vintage elegance. The gown
measures: bustline=32"-33"; waistline=24"-25".

Lavendar Gown W/Sheer
Topper
Size
11/12
First let me say that this gown needs some attention. The gown is a
light lavendar color and has a sheer overlay. The dress underlining
has narrow shoulder straps and a fitted bodice which ends at the
natural waistline. The sheer overlay has a high neckline with trim
and an applique which looks like a choker. The overlay has capped
sleeves; however the shoulder seams of the overlay have frayed and
the seam has come undone. There are various seams which are also
frayed and all would need to be finished off (a liquid made for this
purpose could be applied. The shoulder seams and maybe a bit of the
side seams would need to be restitched. A narrow material belt
encircles the waistline. The skirt is also flowing. It consists of
the underlining with a few layers of overlay. The top is cut
asymetrically, giving the gown a great touch. There are a few small
spots on the overly, but I have not had the gown cleaned. This gown
is being sold "as-is" at a very reduced price. I'm sure a good
seamstress would have no problem making the necessary repairs. The
gown is a size 11/12. It measures: bustline=34"; waistline=26";
hips=36" and length (shoulder to hemline)=59".

1960's Black/Cranberry
Lace/Sequins
This dress has the typical 1960's cut, however it is unique in it's
design. The dress has a full black lining. The dress itself is a
black and cranberry lace. This lace is decorated with black strips
of material which are zigzaged throughout the dress. Black sequins
are also done in a zigzag design. Very interesting effect. The
bodice of the dress is fitted, with a rounded neckline and
sleeveless. There is a black piping around the neckline, the
armholes and the waistline. Two small black bows accents the
waistline. The skirt is straight. The dress is in very good
condition. A few of the sequin rows and zigzag rows need to be
retacked and there are a few breaks in the lace, but it is sturdy and
in very wearable condition. There is a union tag on the inside, but
no size information. Measurements: bustline=34"; waistline=27";
hips=38"; length (waistline to hemline)=25".
