On to the 1900's . . .

Cassey steps out in a navy blue and cream silk, three piece gown (VEC385). It consists of a bodice, skirt and underskirt. The bodice is not boned and has a front cream colored insert with a front snap closure. The cream insert continues to the waistline. The blue portion of the bodice almost looks like a bolaro jacket over a blouse. Navy blue velvet trim begins with a blue velvet bow at the top of the blue material and continues to the waistline (both sides), where another bow acts as a front waistline closure. The velvet also runs along the hemline of the bodice. The sleeves are 3/4 length and nicely gathered along the outer and inner seams. The underskirt is blue polished cotton with three ruffles along the hemline. The skirt is gored and simply cut with a back hook/eye closure. It is slightly gathered in the back. Cassey accents the neckline of this gown with a Victorian portrait pin (VEJ079). Her navy blue hat is new this Easter season.

Vivian and Dick look so relaxed as they take an afternoon stroll. Vivian is wearing a lingerie dress from the early 1900’s (VEC389). This lightweight, white cotton lawn gown is a beautiful combination of embroidery, cutwork, lace inserts, pintucks and gathering! The gown has a square neckline and a gathered bodice. Vertical pin pleats run from the shoulders to the waistline and again throughout the skirt. A cutwork and embroidered shawl style collar begins at the front waistline and continues to the back waistline. The sleeves are ¾ length with two horizontal bands of cutwork and embroidery. The skirt has vertical cutwork strips throughout and a lace scallop which accents the bottom ruffle. She completes her ensemble with a cream colored parasol (VEC390) and a wide brim straw hat (new vintage).

Janice and Dick look like they're having lots of fun. Janice can see everything with her silvertone longuette (SBJ021)! She is wearing a cocoa brown silk gown which comes from the Wadsworth Museum in Hartford, CT (VEC290). The dress bodice has a light cotton cream colored lining and no boning. Long brown silk sleeves are attached to the underlining. The sleeves are slightly bell shaped and have a finished slit at the wristline. The collar is created from an applique which is basted into the neckline. There is a matching applique which is sewn to the center front of the bodice. The bodice is sleeveless and gives a nice accent to the long sleeves which extend through the opening. The skirt if fairly staight and has a few wider pleats at the waistline to give it some width. The gown has a material belt which is horizontally pleated and measures over 4" wide. The belt is decorated with brown material rosettes and brown ribbon. Attached to the closure is a large brown material flower with an orange material center. Brown ribbons fall in loops from the flower. Janice wears a black straw hat from the early 1900's (ALC04), accented with rust ribbon and trim. A 4" wide satin ribbon wraps around the hat and ends in nice, large bow on the side. The brim is turned up at the edges and a rust colored "straw" type strip surrounds the outer brim.

Another important look for the early 1900’s was the walking suit. Walking suits had a tailored look and were wonderful outfits for a lady who was busy and on the go!

Vivian is wearing a dark brown wool, two-piece walking suit (VEC391) dating to about 1912. The jacket is fitted through the waistline and nicely decorated with ivory and brown trim. Notice the use of buttons as an added decorative touch – in both the front and the back of both the jacket and skirt. The skirt is gored with a wide horizontal pleat at the bottom and two rows of buttons down the front. Vivian wears a cream colored blouse with the walking suit, brown gloves and a brown straw hat (ALC019), dating closer to the 1920’s. Her brown shoes (VEC392) are typical of the time period and very narrow and pointed.

Stephanie and Dick are ready to step out! Stephanie is wearing a black lace and rhinestones dress (VEC102) from the 1920's. The dress is done entirely in black lace. The bodice has a flesh color underlining with a "V" neckline. The bodice of the dress has a "V" neckline and long, straight sleeves (no underlining in the sleeves). Six buttons accent the lower edge of the each sleeve. The dress has a drop waistline with a material belt accented with a rhinestone buckle. The dress is a slip over style with no closures. Below the waistline, the skirt has two layers of lace, one ending about knee length and the other ankle length. Stephanie has chosen a beige silk cloche (DTC001) with two 5" circular mesh pieces of adornment. The edges are upturned. The beige silk material has 3 horizontal layers and gathering. Her black suede shoes (DMC042) and mesh purse (VEC333) complete the look. She is definitely ready to go out on the town!

Chanity looks so cute in this ensemble! The dress is a cocoa brown sheer net (DMC033), which is worn over the matching brown slip. The bodice has a "V" style neckline with two center front accents which resemble bows made of net and decorated with rust piping. The sleeves are short cap style sleeves. The bodice has a waistline with an inverted "V" under the bustline. The skirt is straight and the dress has a side snap closure. The matching jacket is done in the same material and features short sleeves. The cuff of each sleeve is decorated with the rust colored piping. The jacket is short and has a 6 button front closure. The neckline is a nice "V" with a wide collar decorating the front. The collar is also decorated with rust piping. Chanity wears a hat that was definitely made for this dress (DMC068)! This brown felt hat is accented with rust velvet and a large feather puff! The hat has a turned up brim done in rust velvet. This brim encircles the hat and tapers off at the center back where it meets a small felt bow. The hat has a large feather puff on one side. The puff is also accented with a rust velvet bow. A thin elastic chin strap holds the hat in place. Chanity completes the outfit with brown gloves and brown suede heels.
