Vintage White Christening
Gown
This lovely vintage white cotton Christening gown is nicely accented
with
lace. I believe the wide lace along the hemline is handmade and may
have been added to the gown. The gown has a rounded neckline and lace
edged yoke. The yoke itself is also covered with a lace overlay and
accented with two (2) vertical eyelet strips. The sleeves are long
and gathered into a lace edging around the wrist. The gown has a
center back button closure (the top button is broken, but could
easily be replaced). The lower portion of the skirt has horizontal
pin pleats sandwiching a horizontal lace band. A wide band of lace
completes the gown. This lace band has a scalloped edge and is just
beautiful upon close inspection. There are some breaks in the lace,
but they only add to the vintage quality of the gown. The
Christening gown also has some old mends and small pin holes (see Detail Views). The gown should be cleaned
as it has a few small marks, but these should come out with cleaning.

Young Girl's Victorian
Dress
This pretty vintage white cotton lawn dress is perfect for the little
Victorian lady in your life. The dress is beautifully decorated with
lace and pintucks. The dress contains Cluny bobbin lace, Venitisa
and Italian laces and machine embroidery. The dress has a rounded
neckline and features a lace yoke. The real detailing begins just
below the yoke. The entire bodice of the dress is a combination of
white-on-white machine embroidery and lace. The design reminds me of
vertical petals. The outline is embroidered with lace center. Each
design has two petals with a loverly whitework flower center. This
design encircles the bodice - front and back. The sleeves of the
dress are long with a vertical lace insert along the outer sleeve.
This lace insert is accented with the same whitework flowers that
accent the bodice of the dress. Vertical pin pleats run along each
side of the lace strip. Lace also encircles the wrist. The dress
does have a somewhat fitted waistline. Very small vertical pin
pleats encircle the waistline, gathering the dress nicely. A white
satin ribbon acts as a belt and ties in the back. The skirt is
fairly simple in design and is accented by white embroidered dots.
The bottom 8" of the skirt is decorated with embroidery and the same
petal design as the bodice. The hemline is scalloped. The dress has
a center back button closure. It is in very good condition (may have
one or two very small spots). The lace and detailing of this dress
is beautiful. The dress measures approximately: chest=34"; shoulder
to shoulder=12"; shoulder to waistline length=16"; waistline=25";
skirt length (waistline to hemline)=18 1/2"

Long Sleeve Vintage Christening
Gown
This vintage white cotton Christening gown in in sturdy condition
and very
wearable. The gown features a rounded neckline with a drawstring
tie. A small ruffle accents the neckline. The bodice of the gown is
vertically pleated in the front and back. A square yoke is created
with lace trim. A center front vertical band decorates the bodice
and is also edged with trim. The gown has a center back button
closure with very tiny buttons. The sleeves are long and edged with
two (2) rows of lace. A label is attached to the inside of the gown
which reads, "Sarah Field 1886" however, I do not believe the gown is
that early. I have left the label intacted as that is the way I
purchased it. The lower portion of the skirt has horizontal pleating
and the hemline is ruffled with a scalloped edge. Again, the gown is
in very good condition, but the inside banding needs some restitching
(minor repair). There are also a few light stains which are not
detracting. The gown measures approximately 13" from side seam to
side seam and 38" in length from shoulder to hemline.

Vintage Cotton Lawn Baby
Gown
This simple vintage white lawn baby gown is so sweet. It features a
rounded
neckline with small embroidered scallops as well as a yoke
embroidered with a floral design. The edges of the sleeves and the
hemline are also accented with embroidered scallops and there are
scattered embroidered flowers throughout. The sleeves have small
holes along the edge which could be threaded with ribbon and
gathered. The gown has no fasteners, but does have a center back
neck opening. The gown is in very good condition, but does have a
small light stain on the back. The gown measures approximately 13"
under the arm from side seam to side seam and approximately 24" long.

Vintage 1900's Christening
Gown
This pretty white vintage cotton Christening gown is beautifully
detailed.
The gown has a rounded neckline with a white lace ruffle trim. The
sleeves are long and decorated with white openwork trim and an
embroidered whitework edging. The center front of the Christening
gown - from the neckline to the hemline - is detailed with a center
strip of whitework lace. Each side of this strip is further
decorated with diagnol pin pleats. The center decoration is wide at
the shoulders, tapers inward toward the waistline and flairs again as
it approaches the hemline. A 4" openwork ruffle is attached to the
bottom of the gown. The gown has a center back button closure and a
wide material tie. The ties are both edged with openwork. The back
of the gown is not decorated, except for seven (7) horizontal pin
pleats along the bottom portion of the skirt. The gown measures as
follows: chest=20"; shoulder to shoulder=8"; length (center back
neck to hemline)=37". The Christening gown is in very good condition
and very wearable. This is sure to become a family heirloom.

Girl's Two-Strap
Vintage Sandals
These two strap vintage sandals are called Misses, but I believe
they are
girls. The shoes are patent leather and made by "Endicott Johnson".
The straps slip into bright silvertone buckles. The shoes have a
3/4" rubber heel with an "EJ" stamped in a circle. Three circular
cut-outs accent the top of the shoe, followed by a narrow brown
leather scrolled design and a strip of small cut-out circles. The
shoes are topstitched into the soles. They are marked a size 10and
measure 8 1/4" long (inside measurement). Sizes have changed over
the years, so I would use the measurement rather than the size. The
shoes are new/old stock and the patent leather on the toe has crazed,
otherwise they are in very good condition. The shoes come in their
original box.

Vintage Child's Cotton
Slip
This vintage white cotton slip was obviously some little girl's
favorite -
it has been lovingly mended a few times! The slip has a rounded
neckline edged with a tiny row of lace. Three small buttons create a
center front opening. The slip is sleeveless and has a dropped
waistline. The skirt portion of the slip is gathered for fullness
and the lower portion is decorated with tiny horizontal pleating, a
material ruffle and a lace edging. The slip measures approximately
13" from underarm side seam to underarm side seam for a total of 26".
The shoulder seam to the dropped waistline measures approximately 15"
and the wide measurement at this waist level is 34". Total length of
the slip is 28". Again, this slip does have some wear and mends.
There is also a fair amount of hand sewing in the piece.

Vintage Silk Christening
Gown/Petticoat
This beautiful vintage two (2) piece Christening gown is a lovely ecru
colored silk. The gown consists of a petticoat and dress. The dress
has a rounded neckline with a lace ruffled. The yoke of the gown is
also lace. The silk portion of the dress is tightly gathered into
the lace yoke. The sleeves are full and edged with lace. The gown
is very long with the lower edge a combination of laces - Chantilly
lace and Brussels lace. I don't know if all the lace is original to
the gown. The gown has a center back button closure. The matching
slip is sleeveless with a rounded neckline. Both the armholes and
neckline are edged with a delicate lace trim. The slip has a center
front button closure and drawstring at the neckline. There is also a
drawstring where the bodice meets the skirt. Like the gown, the slip
is also heavily gathered into the bodice. The skirt on the slip is
also very long and the hemline is decorated with lace. The
Christening gown is beautifully made and is sure to become a family
heirloom. There are a few very tiny holes and a few small age spots.
These do not detract from the gown as there is so much material due
to the gathering that they are very difficult to find. The gown
measures approximately 22" in the chest and 8" from armhole to
armhole. The petticoat measures approximately 36" long and the gown
measures approximately 41" long.
